Munaka Phathutshedzo was born in Limpopo Province and matriculated from Dzata Secondary School. His first degree was a Bachelor of Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), majoring in International Relations and Political Studies. He then went further to do his Honours Degree in Development Studies at Wits University. Thereafter, Phathu went on to do a Masters Degree in Social Development. The title of his research project was the “Experience of Rural Leaders in Accessing Institutions of Higher Learning”. Since doing his Masters, Phathutshedzo has been working for the Thusanani Foundation as a Project Coordinator. His love and passion is for the development of South Africa, as well as Africa as a whole. Munaka hopes that through the ASRI Future Leaders Programme, he will be able to gain more knowledge and experience of different fields, as ASRI is a diverse organisation.
