Gopolang, a Rhodes University graduate, holds an undergraduate degree with majors in Philosophy, Law and Economics along with an Honours degree in Philosophy; and is currently enrolled for a Master of Arts degree in Social Science Methods at Stellenbosch University. While at Rhodes, Gopolang participated extensively in volunteer efforts, including serving as a literacy tutor for the Inkwenkwezi Shine Group programme (a programme which delivered tailored literacy lessons to foundation phase learners), as well as serving as a “thinking skills” tutor at GADRA Matric School (a school that offers learners support in retaking their National Senior Certificate examinations).

Gopolang has research and policy experience in both the public sector and civil society, having worked as an intern at the National Planning Commission Secretariat’s Policy and Research Division and more recently working in the research and policy division at Youth Lab – a non-partisan youth policy think tank.
